With the agreement of the artists, publishers and record companies, Claude Nobs initiated over 300 record releases on vinyl and CD from 1969 onwards — produced by Montreux Sounds, the company he founded in 1973 to operate the audiovisual heritage of the Montreux Jazz Festival. Hundreds of radio and television programs have also been broadcast since that time.
In 2004, the series began its DVD/Blu-ray releases, later extended to digital platforms. « Live at Montreux” », originally co-produced with Eagle Rock Entertainment and now continued by Mercury Studios under exclusive licence from Montreux Sounds, has distributed performances by more than 150 major artists — including concerts from the late 1960s and 1970s co-produced with RTS. Since 2019, Montreux Media Ventures has also released around a dozen LPs from the collection.
In total, more than 500 audio and video releases have been published from the Claude Nobs – Montreux Jazz Festival audiovisual collection — the largest live music catalogue of its kind worldwide.
